A Heist without a Hope - Spoilers
In most movies like this, the villains almost get away with the heist, but not here, and it's not just the hero who stops them.
(1) Ryder gives away his Wall Street background in his first conversation with Garber and then gives away personal details with the Iceland Story. As soon as they think about the Wall Street angle they can track him through his trades.
(2) The planned escape through the Roosevelt tunnel is highly unsuccessful. The decoy train doesn't help. Even though the police haven't blocked off this route initially, Ryder's accomplices are caught in the street immediately, and this is without Garber's help. There is no getaway car or anything like that. Ryder catches a taxi and then gets out and walks.
(3) The villains make no attempt to confiscate laptops, phones, cameras etc. Their pictures could be being broadcast as they waited for the money.
(4) They have no way of dealing with police snipers.
(5) All the way a long the plan involves the authorities co-operating, but it still doesn't work.
