From the articles and synopsis I've read so far, it sounds as if they're on the right track. The story's "through-line" is going to be Paddington (while staying with the Browns) trying to find the explorer who got his aunt interested in England so long ago, and the wiles of a taxidermist who is targeting Paddington's species.

They'd need a running storyline to link it all together (much like Disney did when adapting Mary Poppins) since the original books are so episodic, more like collections of short stories on a single theme.

It sounds as if the creative team has quite a handle on what made the stories so charming, so it sounds as if it will be good.

The one thing I hope they don't mess with is one of the most charming absurdities about the books--the fact that everyone in London is just so matter-of-fact about a three-foot-tall talking bear.

Fingers crossed. At least it's a David Heyman film so maybe there's hope.
