WHY did they release that still first?!
You guys probably know all about the infamous still of Paddington standing in front of Buckingham Palace, the one that's morphed into the "Creepy Paddington" meme. (You know, where they've Photoshopped Paddington into all those horror movie stills.)
The thing is, when I first saw it, I wasn't crazy about the look of it either. It looked, I dunno, very cheap and hastily put-together. The proportions were all wrong...Paddington looked WAY too tall.
And, as we've come to see from the trailer, it really doesn't look anything like Paddington looks in the movie! In that trailer, Paddington has the correct size and proportions...quite a bit like Peggy Fortnum's illustrations. (His coloring even looks slightly different from the still.)
So why would they release something this bad as our first full look at the character?
In contrast, there's the newest poster, which came out only a day or so afterward--the one with the close-up on Paddington's face. It's adorable, cuter, fluffier, looks more correct, and is a better representation. I wish they'd gone with THAT as our first clear look rather than something that wasn't really representative of the way the movie looked.
