Colin Firth Drops Out!!!

So now that Colin Firth is dropping out as the voice of Paddington, who would make a good one? I think it should be a youthful sounding voice, like someone in the thicke of the youth generation for youth appeal.

Tom Hiddleston is a start but even someone outside of the acting realm even...say Harry Styles?

Sorry, but this film is already littered with middle aged to older actors and looking at the trailer it's kind of a miss already.

This is an opportunity for the film to make a real go, if they are smart.

Firths become big headed and considers himself too important and international to portray a little, lovable British institution like Paddington, good riddance, go wallow in the USA...lose more weight and play the Hollywood game. Jim Broadbent should have been Paddington.

Agreed Jadzia2000! Firth is a staple casting for Nina Gold, however, who cast him in The King's Speech and several others over the years.

She really missed the mark on this one though! She was interviewed about his casting in The Guardian a few months ago and bragged about this. Time for someone to take a long vacation...

I still say it should be someone youthful and the bear needs reworking, he is kind of creepy and too human-like.

I don't think he looked THAT tall. In that infamous still that's spawned a thousand memes, yes; in the actual trailer, no. I think he has around the same proportions as the original illustrations.

I don't know WHY they released that still first...it really doesn't look much like the finished product and somehow looked very cheap and hasty.

Why do people think Colin dropped out because he's too big headed or thinks hes too good/important for the role. It sounds like quite the opposite. Apparently after watching the film back he actually thought that his voice just didn't suit the character and for that reason he pulled out.

To be fair, with the filming finished its just a case of recording new vocals for Paddington, nothing like re-shooting the entire film.

Tom Hiddleston would be excellent!

***Second in the pecking order on the Corrie board!***

Hire one of the Weasley twins or Tom Felton to do the voice.
