The film is doing superbly in the UK my friend and will be the leading family film over the holidays so have no fear this has surely made it's money back. Well deserved, one of the best live action family movies in years.

Fingers crossed for good U.S. business. My friend Susan and I were supposed to see it on the 26th, but it'll be Into The Woods instead, and hopefully we'll catch it on MLK weekend when it opens here.

It had a $38.5 million euro (£30 million) budget so it's unlikely it will make its money back from just the UK. It has only grossed £18 million so far, and StudioCanal will only collect about half of that. It would need to gross at least £60 million to break even in the UK alone. This is the problem that all British films face: the UK market is too small for a film with a substantial budget to break even, so international success is crucial. Not even Skyfall—the highest grossing film ever in the UK—or any of the Harry Potters broke even from the UK earnings alone.

It's made $85million worldwide already, which means it has nearly broken even. There are quite a few markets left to go so $150million foreign is definitely within reach and $200million worldwide is a potential lock, it could go even higher. The film is fine shape and if it's holds continue in the UK (no direction competition except Into the Woods now) it will continue to be that way. I am aware you need to double your budget to break even.

You know that wasn't what I was saying, I'm just glad the movie is doing well in a piracy dominated world.
