Which "kindly gentleman" was Michael Bond?

The author of Paddington, credited at the end as "kindly gentleman." In which scene was he featured?

The only elderly gentleman I remember seeing was when Paddington was lookin out of the taxi and drive past a street cafe. An elderly man was seated smiling and waving at him. Could that have been it or was there another encounter?

When The Browns are taking Paddington home in the taxi, they pass a restaurant where an old man sitting by the window raises his glass of wine as a toast to Paddington - that was Michael Bond.

Apparently, Bond filmed two scenes, but that was the only one used in the final cut.

That's right. He raised a glass, didn't wave. But that scene definitely caught my eye. I didn't realize it was Michael Bond at the time. How sweet.

Funnily enough, I didn't know in advance that he'd done a cameo, but I recognized him immediately because only the day before I'd been trawling through photos of him and Paddington on the Paddington Bear website (http://www.paddington.com/gb/home/) in response to a question on this very board!
And I agree: it's a lovely, warm scene.
