How did he know what a wallet was and that you needed only one?

Is it because it's a kid's movie?

reply

Seriously? The whole movie is about a talking bear and this is the thing that bothered you?!?!

reply

Well yeah. Especially since he didn't know how to use the facilities. I can accept a talking bear the way I can accept a man who dresses like a bat. I'm still gonna notice inconsistencies in a Batman movie.

It's never explained how he knows what a wallet is, as far as I can remember.

Maybe the Explorer had one and he learned about it through Uncle Pastuzo. Maybe he saw Mr. Brown using it to get the train tickets - even if the family had bought theirs previously they would have needed an extra for Paddington that day. Maybe he noticed it when Mr. Brown was paying the cabbie and asked about it later offscreen.

Or as you suggested "because it's a kid's movie" LOL... who knows.

and that you needed only one
Did he, or was he just surprised that he had more than one without realizing that it was wrong to have several? I will admit that it's been months since I have seen it so I could be wrong and maybe he did know you don't typically have more than one.

Or LOL, it was all explained off screen to him.

Yeah, I get what you mean in your reply to the other user - even though movies are fantasy they still set up rules for that particular universe so some things can still seem out of place. But, for me at least, since it's possible that he saw Mr. Brown's wallet and asked the kids about it at some point, this little bit doesn't bother me.
