The Villian's Motivations...

One thing that bothered me was the motivations of Nicole Kidman's character. Her whole obsession with Paddington is so that she can kill him, stuff him and become "rich and famous". But throughout the whole movie it's clear that no one really considers Paddington that special. Most people react, at best, with mild surprise and not awe that's you'd expect when you see a talking bear.

Surely if she was capable of making money off Paddington's stuffed corpse then his presence at, say, the train station would have drawn massive interest from onlookers.

No, she wanted her father's finds to go down in history. She lamented how you don't see anything from her father in the Natural History Museum. Also she was well aware that what she was doing was illegal, so how she would have expected to become rich and famous by doing that?

Never throw away a chance for happiness too quickly...it can get to be a habit.

Add to that, the grudge she bears (sorry) against Paddington's species for ruining her father's life and hers (or so she believes).
