Why Sasha Grey?

MAybe Soderberg should have SEEN her before casting her, rather than just reading about her. If he had, he would have known that SAsha Grey's acting is bad even by the porn industry's standards. She is a throwback to the 70s and 80s porn acting that is so wooden, it became a running joke about the industry. Not that today's porn acting is much better, but there are several actresses in pron that can at leas be somewhat believeable.

The bottom line is, if this movie was made by anyone else, it would never have seen the light of day. With good reason.

That is exactly why he chose her. Her acting (or lack of) is wooden, affect- flat. The character is supposed to have very little emotions... Who better than someone who is not a talented actress....

Casting couch comes to mind as a reason

Or maybe this guy have a hard time while searching for actress and choose her for a easy release
