i dont feel like joaquin had good chemistry with gwyenth or vanessa. what do u guys think ?
shareSurely that was the point of the film. Leonard wanted Michelle badly, but she didn't see him in the way he wanted her to. Sandra was keen to have a relationship with Leonard, but he was reluctant because she was his parents' choice. "Two Lovers" wasn't a traditional romance so "chemistry" in that sense seems superfluous to me.
However, I did think the three leads all played their parts wonderfully well and their scenes together were riveting. Joaquin was awkward and socially inept as Leonard, though with flashes of the charismatic man he used to be before his breakdown. Gwyneth was self-centred, damaged and vulnerable as Michelle: she and Leonard completely misunderstood each other. Vinessa was loving and kind as Sandra. I thought her scenes with Lenoard were particularly touching.

but not me tho, i prefer joaquin as evil commodus or stabbing a dude as in the yards...not that sensitive..but thats just me ...but to each his own ...it was a good movie anyhow :)
I also liked Joaquin in both "The Yards" and "Gladiator". He's such a brilliant actor that he's convincing in whatever type of role role he takes on. As Commodus, I felt there was a strand of vulnerability that he conveyed. I mean, even though he did some really evil things, didn't a part of you feel quite sorry for him at times? He struck me as a man who was desperate to be loved and approved of by his father. There was something neglected and sad about Commodus. Joaquin portrayed him as so much more than a two-dimensional villain.
sharedefintely... :) his papa shoulda chose him ! lol aww...remember life is a frightful? dream and he has only lucilla to share it with.one of my fave scenes and..one of my fave roles by him..by no means a cartoon villan...cant wait for his new movie !
shareThe new movie sounds like it's going to be fantastic - Joaquin and Philip Seymour Hoffman, two great actors working together! I just wish we didn't have to wait over a year to see it.
