Why involve Melanie?

Spoilers -
If this whole thing was setup by Bee to "get rid of the demons and put an end to it" , why did she have to use Melanie (who was fairly innocent in the first movie) and get her to join the cult?

The ending tries to portray Bee as a guardian angel but hasn't she actually screwed an innocent teen's life?

That was my question as well. Maybe it's because she chose to sell her soul for popularity and thus deserved her fate, that's the only reason I can come up with.
