Does this remind anyone of that scene from National Lampoon's Vacation?

I just watched this on cable last night, and it reminded me of the scene in National Lampoon's Vacation where Clark Griswold crashes the "family truckster" (station wagon) in the desert while they were trying to find the Grand Canyon. Clark then has to walk to a service station to get help.

Since Vacation is a comedy, that scene ended much less tragically than this movie, Thirst. This movie was not very popular to begin with, so I highly doubt they will ever make a "spoof" of this film, but if they did, it should be based off of that one scene in Vacation. The "spoof" would end with all four characters (still alive) at the service station, and when their vehicle is fixed, Tyson would ask the mechanic, "How much do I owe you?" and the mechanic would ask, "How much you got?"...and then so on like that scene from Vacation, with the mechanic taking all of his money.

But still, Chevy Chase was awesome playing Clark in Vacation! "We passed a goddamn gas station every 10 yards for 1000 miles, but when you really need one, you end up walking your ass off! This is no way to run a desert!" They should have used that line in Thirst, like one of them saying, "Hey, like Clark Griswold said in that movie...."!
