"Team Foxcatcher" on Netflix.

Watch this documentary, and you'll be astounded as to the extent the filmmakers dropped the ball on the fictionalized version of this story. The true story is far more fascinating, bizarre, and compelling than one single solitary minute of the fictionalized version. John du Pont was an inordinately bizarre individual, and the fictionalized film should've enumerated and dramatized his eccentricities. Instead we get way too much focus on Channing Tatum lumbering his way, embarrassingly, through another excruciating "performance." Hollywood: please stop hiring this cross-eyed, short-bus-riding *beep* and please stop letting him ruin movies that could otherwise be great.

As much as I liked the fictionalized movie, this documentary does give a more detailed and probable rationale why Du Pont murdered Dave Schultz. Also, the "triangle" of Du Pont and the Schultz brothers is in actuality among John, Dave, and Romanian wrestler Valentin Yordanov. To the extent of a dynamic tragedy being portrayed, then Miller's film is true, but with dramatic license. Where I think Miller fails though is not depicting the many others who ard witnesses to and enable Du Pont's mental decline. USA Wrestling ass-kissing the eccentric millionaire is accurately depicted by Miller.

I Kept waiting for a brother to appear. Which one was he? I've only seen the doc but I've read about the drama. Guess that goes to show where the focus was placed in the two movies. I didn't think there was another Shultz brother in the doc.

The film makers invented a brother for dramatic license. They built up a story around the two Shultzes. It was really the Eastern European guy that had the triangle with them. That wouldn't have made nearly as good a movie. I recommend seeing the doc if you wanna know what really happened. It's a very good film.

No. Mark Schultz exists and was a member of the Foxcatcher, as well as Villanova, team as a coach. However, he left prior to David coming to the farm. The fictionalized movie compressed the time frame and made Valentin into the "Mark" character in the movie. There was bad blood between the real Mark and Du Pont, but this had nothing to do with why Du Pont killed Dave.

Watching it now and that's exactly what I'm thinking!! The amount of genuine material they had was unreal!
Filmmakers usually have to sensationalise biopics... They did the opposite!

I agree, with everything that happened, this movie should have been much more interesting.

I guess that's the new thing in Hollywood, movies always have to be very sterile and emotionless, to be good.

i told you not to stop the boat. Now lets go. Apocaylpse Now
