Just finished it and I'm absolutely..
SPEECHLESS! It would be easy to say Carell and Ruffalo got robbed for an academy award (imo especially Ruffalo) BUT...Redmayne & Simmons who went home with the 'Golden Boy' that year did outstanding jobs themselves; I'm glad the choice through some "glitch in reality" wasn't mine alone to make. I've always thought Rufallo to be a great actor and was happy to see his role as The Hulk give him the "public notoriety " that he deserves. I say "notoriety" and NOT "recognition" as those are two separate forms of perception, Bruce Banner allows Rufallo to be visible to a broader spectrum of film goers BUT his recognition will be for such performances as Dave Schultz. I can talk about his hunched wrestler walk, the way he had this athlete/humble body language when he greeted someone via handshake or hand on tbe shoulder, or the father/brother 6th sense durin the scene when Dave first arrives at Foxcatcher and speaks to Mark at the door, the way he nods/shakes his head knowin Mark is lying. Rufallo brought a level of compassion and admiration for Dave Schults that i...well..suffice to say after watching the film i felt like Dave Schultz was the kind of older brother i wish i had!
(SPOILER FOR THAT ONE DUDE WHO LIVES IN A CAVE)
...and when Dave is shot and at the end i felt like that was MY brother laying in blood stained snow...and I wept.
I can think of no greater compliment to give an actor.
