Musicals make movies worse and this is a perfect example.
Get rid of the musical aspect and this could have been decent. Everytime they broke into sound I thought, "oh no, here we go".

shareHaven't seen it yet but there have been some good musicals that would've been lesser movies without the singin' and dancin'.
Try watching Singin' in the Rain and then try to imagine it without the musical numbers. You can't tell me you think it would be a better film.
I also enjoyed The Sound of Music, The Greatest Showman, Rock of Ages and The Phantom of the Opera.
I can't get past breaking the fourth wall. I think there's a problem with watching a scene and having to worry about a sudden change that almost never advances the story.
shareIt's definitely a matter of whether that kind of art appeals to you. I think you just have to acknowledge that musicals are their own thing and approach the genre on its own terms. If you just don't like the music and/or can't appreciate the dancing abilities of the performers, then yeah, might as well spend your time watching something else.
shareI agree with you.
Main poster doesn't even seem to like musicals, yet watched this movie. Maybe they watched it because of the actors, but no matter the actor, its still a musical and a person wont like it if not into musicals.
Well that smells like an opinion.
I have no doubt the movie isn't good, but blaming it on the inclusion of music is, frankly, shallow, ignorant and stupid.
If you've seen it. you can see howaking it a musical makes it worse. The songs feel so out of place, they're long and not very good. None of them progress the story either.
