Bella casting
Does anyone else think Lily Collins would have made a better Bella? She's a better actor and has a softer look that fits the character.

shareKristen looked pretty much like my image of Bella, I just wish she acted better and didn't put so much of herself into the character.
I would always rather be happy than dignified.
I agree. Kristen was too self centered on a off screen
The scene where kristen holds the camera on herself too long. At the end of New Moon when wolf Jacob runs away after her choosing Edward. I got the giggles watching Kristen trying to show emotions for the scene. Where was the director or the editor.
I really like Kristen but the author wanted Emily Browning as Bella. I like her too, but Kristen truly is the brooding Bella.
shareI can't see Emily Browning as Bella. I'm happy with Kristen.

Im not happy with Browning or Stewart tbh. Kristen has the looks but the acting or the lack of it was very off-putting

Well, everyone has their own tastes. But, I do often wonder how much of the hate stems from the hatred of the 'Twilight' series.

Right now, I'm making a conscious effort to watch all her films.
She's got a pretty interesting body of work when you start looking into it. She's portrayed a good mix of characters.
So far, it's going well. I was pleasantly surprised at her performance in Camp X-Ray (because I'm an ex-soldier and wasn't sure she could pull that one off).
She does a lot with her eyes. I think if I met her in real life (and she wasn't a famous actress) I would be fascinated by her facial expressions and body language.
I've seen her in several movies, and I don't have any problem with her acting. It's hard for an actor to act when their characters are closed up, or not allowed to show emotion. I think she does this well. You can see her thinking. That's hard for a lot of actors to do.

Exactly.
Back in the days of black and white films, it was quite ordinary for the camera to be on an actor's face for quite a long period of time with no dialogue. You were supposed to be able to suss out what they were thinking or feeling without them necessarily making exaggerated facial expressions. The actors in that era were more skilled at doing this I think.
I, personally, enjoy that sort of thing. I like Brit Marling for this reason as well- she doesn't give you a lot of exaggerated expressions but her face still conveys a lot of emotion and thought processes.
I don't believe I've ever seen Brit Marling in anything. I'll have to check her out.

The movie came out when I was 14, so needless to say, I was VERY into the series. I actually thought Kristen was perfect for Bella and I still do, nearly 9 years later.
In the books, Bella was very pale, dark brown hair, brown eyes, very plain Jane looking with the "girl next door" look to her. She was also very awkward, wasn't good at conversations, stuttered, etc. Kristen's acting may be awful to some but it was literally how Bella was in the novels.
