Spoiled Child

Woody Norman is a talented young kid given an irritating role to play, a spoiled child surrounded by adults who can't stop apologizing to him for not properly understanding his feelings. Good Lord. Is this where the sense of entitlement possessed by so many young people today comes from?

Better title: "How Not to Parent a Child."

I don't necessarily disagree - but this is part of the whole point. It is addressed throughout the story repeatedly with his uncle and mom admitting they dont not know what they are doing. His uncle even laments on how the child and he himself is spoiled. The point being that we should be empathizing and watching the growth between them. If all you got out of it is that this kid is spoiled well, that sounds childish :)

Childish or not, it was difficult for me to empathize. Parenting is hard, I get that. I'm a parent. I'm actually a grandparent and now I get to watch my son's parenting skills. There's a lot you have to learn and discover along the way, but these guys were inordinately clueless. To the point where it was impossible for me to empathize. The child can't run the show and that's pretty basic.

I don't know. It was probably a terrific movie and I was just distracted or tired or something.
