It sucked and one other thing
it sucked.
There's no other words to describe this movie, it sucked.
And Mos Def is a lot better actor than to play in this pile of steaming crap.

THe original poster is full of crap. He doesn't know why he hates the movie. He's victim of having no funny bone in his body that will allow him to laugh. This movie was pretty good.
sharei watched 5 minutes and then thought to myself. the director has GOT to be black. and yes...he was. typical black movie. crap
shareSee that's why I think many people were disappointed- I thought it was unlike most "black" movies that are made. The script did make sense to me, the laughs were witty (most weren't the dumb, ghetto jokes that aren't very creative- the Mos Def scene where he spins around full circle and says, "You told me to go all the way around" was hilarious) and the characters actually did show some development as you went along.
The story just happens to take place in an urban setting, with drugs and dealers- so the writer just took a really cool formula and applied it to this. Trust me, this film could have been much more boneheaded (and I have a weird feeling it would have been much more popular).
For what it was, I was impressed.
Don't forget to love your local Orphan.
Esther is gangster.
