No White people cast?

not every movie thats been released has been stereotypcal & theres alot of "serious" movies in the recent past for u to enjoy if thats what your into.

No. What I meant was.. why are the roles so stereotypical? Like if it's a black people movie it has to be gAnGSta with "Yo Homie", if it's a mexican movie it's like "Hey cabron/holms", if it's a white people movie it's like "Hey dude, whatz up man" ..




Because Hollywood STILL can't abandon it's death grip on stereotypes. Unfortunately, they believe that these are the ONLY films that people of color will go see. They market them to these crowds and seldom will promote films that are more dramatic in nature for fear that the audiences won't support them. Sadly, there are a good number of serious-toned minority films that will never see the light of day as a result of this archaic thinking.

There's something to what you say though. A LOT honestly. There will be one movie coming out soon about Toussaint L'Overture, directed by Danny Glover where all the heroes are black. That's the way it was. You're talking about a slave revolt. The thing was, that was a problem for Hollywood execs, who have a rather long history of making sure that it's a white character either fictional or real, that is either the main character or narrates the story of the famous Black, Hispanic or Asian figure or culture that the movie is about:

Dances With Wolves
And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself
Last King of Scotland
Snow Falling on Cedars
Glory

And some films that I can't think of right now. And some of these are movies I love! They didn't do that with Hotel Rwanda though - no wait, that was an independent release!

Anyway, you are going to hear a lot of Fox News types rail against the Toussaint movie because the Hollywood execs wouldn't fund the film, so Glover went to Hugo Chavez who hooked him up with the money. The movie will do well regardless, and I expect it to be a fantastic production. And hopefully it will start the beginning of the end of films that has some wimpy fish-out-of-water guy riding shotgun with Idi effing Amin to get "Middle America" to see it.
