Movie tried to be artsy but ended up just boring

Beautiful cinematography was the only good part of the movie. Everything other was just horrible.

Lead actor was sleepwalking whole movie. I hated his character. It was either bad acting or unprofessionalism. And I think it was bad acting. They told him to play that silent stoic character that Kevin Costner always plays. But he didnt know how to act it and just felt flat. On top of that he was overweight and had stupid hat that made him look ridiculous.

Movie was so boring and nothing happened that few times I almost turned it off. And then ending was anticlimactic.

And honestly most of the time I was confused about plot. Why was there that murderous chimpanzee? Why did it go crazy? What that had to do with main plot? Why did they returned there and risk their lives? Just to get picture of that thing and then sell it?

reply

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

reply

I disagree. I thought it was really good and not boring at all.

reply

Peele is the Van Vogt of movie making.

reply

He's alright, but let's not get crazy.

reply

Talking about A.E Van Vogt. Sci fi writer. Known for his inconsistencies and clumsiness in trying to tie plots together.

reply

Ah, ok. I assumed you were comparing him to the master painter, but just spelled his name wrong, lol. I am unfamiliar with that particular writer.

definetly disagree hard on daniel kaluuya's acting. he did an excellent job playing a blue-collar "all work, no play" type of guy. i've met so many people in the workplaces that acted identical to him.

reply

No. He tried to play that character because he was written in a script like that. But he failed because he doesnt know how. Because, well, he is British. He only saw them in movies. And tried to act like one, but just looked stupid and like he was slow in mind department. And he was our main character who we supposed to root for. And I had zero desire to do so.

His sister and that other guy had at least emotions. He had no personality. Its like to root for door or house. He was miscast as he couldnt play that role. They probably didnt even audition him and chose among 10 other actors. He was just offered role because he got famous. And then it was too late.

reply

Yes. He played that character just as it written in a script like that. But he succeed because he knows how. Because, well, he is an actor. He saw them in movies. And acted like one And he was our main character who we were supposed to root for. And I had tons of desire to do so.

His sister and that other guy also had emotions. He had personality. It's like to root for door or house. (?) He was cast well as he could play that role. They probably didnt even audition him and chose among 10 other actors because he is a great actor and Jordan Peele had worked with him before, earning him an Oscar nomination for 'Best Actor' for Get Out. It was not too late.

reply

He was descent in Get out. He was bad in Black Panther.

Oscars means nothing anymore. Nominations and wins dont mean that actors are actually talented. For years they nominate bunch of random actors for getting fat or thin for a role. Like Bale and McConaughey. For wearing fat suits and ugly face like Charlize Theron. For prosthetic nose like Kidman. For being sad obese person like Precious actress. For being angry person like Monique. For being pretty hot relevant actress like Lawrence. And on and on.

Kaluuya got nomination along with the movie and not because he was exceptional. Movie became hit with audience and public and he got his golden ticket. Many actors do that.

And then he was asked to play different character and he couldnt.

reply

Dumb movie just not worth delving into the details of.

reply

I agree w/ much of what the o.p. posted.

Kaluuya was just fine in Sicario. Menacing in Widows. Here, he was in somnambulist mode, no question.

The chimp apparently went berserk due to a popped balloon…sure, that never happened on-set before, nor loud noises, people shouting, clappers clacking, etc.

Nope insults our intelligence badly. Right down to the reasons for chasing down that toilet-paper/Maypole alien; to get a photo using a camera buried down in a well.

Great! Hey thing in the sky, could you hover directly over this well so this camera w/ no range and a limited view can take a crystal-clear, unblurry photo of you…say cheese!

God-awful film. Get Out was over-rated, Us was stupid-bad. Nope is all of that, but so much worse.

reply

I agree on all points. The entire killer Chimp subplot could be removed entirely as it didn't have one single damned thing to do with the Movie. I kept waiting to see how that was supposed to tie in., It never did.

Peele needs to stick with short comedy skits. Feature Films is not his forte.

Overall the Film was a great film idea that was horribly done in the creation.

Whoosh..and ignored
