Janet Van Dyne

Was a fun-loving fashion-designing socialite in the comics, but they blandified her character, and made her into yet another boring, super-serious, overly-earnest scientist. What a WASTE of Michelle Pfeiffer's talents. Watching a deglamourised Michelle Pfeiffer, one of the most beautiful women in the world, given dull, dry expository lines to work with, crap hair, and ugly clothes, when she would have absolutely eaten up a more faithful version of Janet, is a frickin tragedy.

It's typical Disney/MCU worthiness, and pseudo-'everyone must be in STEM'-feminism, which belittles the choices of billions of women who *aren't* scientists, and just want to have fun being pretty and silly and feminine, and what the hell's wrong with that? 😠 Stop judging. It's sexist!

So you’re saying you really liked her in this? Well, Cool! 😄 Yeah, but how deeply serious it is that they portrayed her differently than how you wanted. The MCU doing their own thing… yet not straying too far from the source material actually… is definitely rare. It’s a real world problem! They still did a great disservice to the character? Alright. Haven’t seen many (this oh-so lovely site notwithstanding) complain about Michelle in this threequel, but opinions. What’s that, though? Raging over a film as usual and fEmIniSm? Shocker. The standard whining on broflake-infested MovieChat? That’s new and bold.

With that aside, it’s okay big bad Marvel & Disney… though u obviously live rent free in the heads of broflakes haunted by whatever they deem wOkE more than any other studios these days (Adolf De Santis must save us!), even without you the industry in general is evidently (effortlessly and, in most cases, unintentionally) melting the minds of the Hollywood-hating chuds of the world. Sexism? Waaaah! We bros can’t criticize an icky woKey product these days without being labeled hateful stuff by the blue haired meanies and stuff! Yeah CRT-approving meanies, keep your agendas (people and themes that make us regressives uncomfortable) outta of our entertainment and lives! 😠

Eh, what?

What are you talking about? I'm a liberal. I detest Trump and DeSantis. And I've said nothing about CRT, which I have some sympathy for (although I also prefer filmmakers, of all ilks, left-wing and right-wing, to make films in good faith, rather than with 'agendas'; I'm not a fan of 'agendas' in general, not because they're 'anti-woke' but because they often are, if anything, 'anti-woke', in the sense that they put rigid ideologies ahead of empathy and compassion for individuals, including trans people, gay people, women, ethnic and racial minorities, and so on).

And I mostly like Marvel and Disney (although, do bear in mind that they're corporations; hardly 'woke').

And this is a film-site. Surely we're entitled to talk about films here. I despise what I call 'entitlement culture', but this is surely an entitlement that is perfectly acceptable (i.e. commenting about a film on a site that is designed for people to comment on films).

And what are the 'Harvey bros'? As for the MCU, it would be nice to get a diversity of female characters, and fwiw, male ones, rather than see the films marginalise certain types of women for a ideological agenda. That's not feminism. That's saying 'the only acceptable type of women are x, and y either are bad or don't deserve to be acknowledged'.

I love how anyone disagreeing with you must be literally hitler.
