Yes, because it's a great movie with the best Keitel's performance ever.

And it's better than this cheap Hollywood imitation. This one is a waste of Herzog's and Cage's talent.

They're totally unrelated, so you should be fine. However, watch the original sometime. It's a great movie, and Keitel gives an incredible performance.

you don't have to see the first one. in fact, i just got done seeing the first one and it's easily a thumbs down from me overall as it's not all that entertaining at the end of the day and neither is this remake and i generally like Nick Cage to.

-Bad Lieutenant (1992) = 5/10 (i probably liked the ending here better but overall the 2009 film was better in my book by at least a little bit)
-Bad Lieutenant (2009)= 6/10

so in other words both are a 'Thumbs Down' in my book.

ill disagree. because while his performance was not bad, what ultimately hurt the film was it lacked entertainment value. so based on that i would prefer him in other films like Reservoir Dogs etc more.
