The sports bet on Louisiana

Can someone explain the whole point system he was working off of in the Louisiana Texas game? If he bet on Louisiana and they were favored by six they would have to win by more than six for him to cover the spread. If Texas was favored by six then Louisiana would only need to win the game or lose by less than six for him to win, So why was he so mad that Louisiana was so far ahead in the game? Was it just a points bet where he had to be within six points one way or the other, I didn't understand what was going on.

And why if he bet on Louisiana would he want their star player to throw the game and lose, which he blackmailed him into doing?

reply

Nobody has figured that out yet. He bets on Louisiana but blackmails Renaldo to lose. Could be an error. Could be he's on an intentional self destruction trip. But it sure runs against common logic.

i was curious too, i just watched that part again where he caught hayes buying drugs...

he told hayes, "if u win by 5 or less, or lose all together, none of these ever happened"

so he was actually betting on texas, and texas got a 6points start

hayes in not on texas team

when he was watching the tv where there is like only 5min left, texas was losing by 18points (24 vs 6), and hayes wasnt playing, thats why he was pissed-off, he cant have texas losing more than 6points, and on the tv i guess thats why hayes was looking unhappy too haha

anyway, the end outcome is texas only lost by 3points, so thats why he won the bet

and thats why he asked did hayes play, because (i guess) it's unlikely for texas to catch-up so much (after being down by 18points with 5min left in the game)

I don't really care about the bet. It was lame that he said "Louisiana" instead of LSU. Are you kidding me?

i know what u mean, i find it weird too, but thats what i heard he said, maybe it's some 'bookie slang' or something

my other curiosity is, near the end when the bookie came to his office, he said something like "u should have called me first, so that you dont have to waste the trip, i dont have the money yet"

didnt he already gave the bookie $10k?
$5k for repaying his debts, and the other $5k for the current bet

so by right if he loses, he just dont get to have the $5k back, why does he need to pay more??

reply

This is probably just a writing mistake..wouldn't surprise me at all considering how poorly this film was written

He should've said 5K on TEXAS when he saw the bookie...that's the only way the scene with the QB makes any sense.
