Legend of N*gga Elk

N*gga Elk aka Renaldo Hayes: Renaldo Hayes (Born: Feb. 4th, 1986 in Vicksburg MS.) is a former American Football player for Tulane University 2004-08. He currently plays for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League (AFL). Hayes was a starting running back for Tulane in his junior and senior seasons. In his senior season Hayes ran for a school record 1340 yards and 12 TD's, finishing 7th in the Heisman voting. At the conclusion of the 2007 season Hayes was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, where he ran a 4.33-40. Despite a stellar career at Tulane, Hayes went undrafted in the '08 NFL Draft. He was invited by several teams to try out but went unsigned.

Though lacking ideal size, Hayes was a fast and tenacious runner. Probably Hayes most memorable performance while at Tulane was during an Oct. 14, 2007 home game against fellow Conference-USA foe East Carolina. In that game Hayes ran for 169 yards and scored 2 touchdowns. With Tulane trailing 27-23 and :21 left in the 4th qtr. Hayes' dramatic 38 yard winning touchdown run gave Tulane it's first conference win of the 2007 season. His performance was referenced in the 2009 Nicolas Cage film Bad Lieutenant - Port of Call.

"Yeah. I was watching TV - the game, right? Renaldo Hayes? He got tossed the ball and he was running with it, he was running running running. He jumped over three linebackers in mid-air. He sprouted antlers! Like a gazelle? Like an elk? He landed again - he ran ran ran - He scored a Touch-Down!"
