Cage is a mad genius

Seriously, I hate when people say he is a terrible actor. I actually think he is one of the best. Just watch this movie and I you will realize just how amazing his performance is. Whether or not he is crazy is a different question...

I agree, this role was perfect for Cage, he is a brilliant actor. He just makes to many bad films. Cage is brilliant in Leaving Las Vegas, Face Off, Bringing Out The Dead, Adaptation, Lord Of War and Bad Lieutenant

Dont forget his best performance Matchstick Men. Cage is my all time favorite actor

He's interesting to watch, but he can get it wrong sometimes (just not in this instance)

He's proof that we live in an age that over values so-called "naturalism".

Nine times out of ten, I'd much rather watch Cage give it his all than a bland, subdued performance that protects the actor's dignity. And yet all you hear about Cage is what a terrible actor he is.

Cage does what it takes to make his roles interesting...even when those roles are beneath him; I think he's a genius.

Hell, I watched the second Ghost Rider movie to the END. Why?

I endured Trespass while almost completely sober. Why?

I've seen Season of the Witch twice. Why?

Cage.

Every once and a while, a Bad Lieutenant or an Adaptation or a Leaving Las Vegas comes along, and he shows his real chops; on that day, there's no one who can do what he does better than him.

True, I hate it when people with questionable intellect from idiotic sites like 9gag rage on about how much of a terrible actor he is.
P.S. I just watched Vampires kiss and Cage IS that movie, he carried it on his shoulders, without hiw it would have been a bore fest. I ended up liking the movie quite a lot.

I suppose I'm alone in thinking that it often teetered on the edge of becoming over-the-top and hard to swallow. Don't know but it just felt so affected, so calculated that I didn't find the acting in some scenes to be convincing at all.

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

My own opinion? Nic was excellent!!!

Everything about Cage in this movie is so good... It's the little things that really put it over-the-top for me. The character is awesome enough that he could play it to the script and it would be great because it's Nicolas Cage - but then there's the way he hunches his back and kind of staggers around; and how as the film goes on, he starts to talk with a sort of painkiller-induced quack.

Leaving Las Vegas is one of my all time favorites and so is Cage as an actor. So many bad mouth him saying he has no depth or whatever but to me he is so convincing in his movies it's hard to believe it isn't him in real life too. He might be a little 'off' in the marbles game in real life but so are many highly artistic people so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that it is true about him.
