Great film.

Finally got round to seeing it this week.

Thank god for Werner Herzog.

It seems like for the longest time I've been into films like Avatar, that just entertain me (which isn't a bad thing) but this was an experience. I loved the cop, I hated him, I laughed out loud (more than once), I felt anger, sadness & the ending just made me stop & think, for quite a while. It's put me back in the mood for something different.

I've only watched it once, but I'd definitely put Bad Lieutenant up there with Strozek & Fitzcarraldo, it's that good.

"There's only one Werner...who else is there? Werner Smith? No."

Damn straight.

Yep, it's great. Have you seen the original? It's great too, but very different.

The absurd humor and crazy imagery reminded me of "Stroszek", too.

This and "Stroszek" are probably his only comedies.

Good flick

absolutely agree
i had been doing the same thing.... watching movies for the action... i avoided dramas...
I am watching both movies right now, started with port of call .... i am an hour into "P>O>C>", amazingly riveting. cage is mastery in this .
I thought it would be poop by all the negs posted.... they are ssooo wrong. This is way better than your average cop movie. (1:25 min in ....wow)

I dont know how the original will be any better.... if it is half as good as port of call , i will be happy.

raising arizona was an also great.

As If!!

You really can't compare Abel Ferrara's "Bad Lieutenant" and "BL:POCNO"…

Ferrara's film is an existentialist morality play full of catholic guilt, while Herzog's is basically an amoral black comedy about human corruption and the absurdity of fate.

Both are great.
