Raquel and Van completely DISRESPECT Harvey .....

Now don't tell me that no one else has noticed this. There have been so many occasions where Harvey is speaking with either Raquel or Van ... only to have them speak back to him like he's a peer (and not their boss). All I know is that if most of us spoke to our bosses the way that those two speak to Harvey, our jobs would be on the line. Van, in particular, is overly defiant whenever Harvey disagrees with him. It's as if Van takes everything so personally and to heart, as if Harvey is insulting HIM ... rather than commenting on the celebrities. As for Raquel, god help anyone who makes a negative comment about any black celeb ... regardless of who it is or what they've done. In fact, when her big mouth opens, I can't change the channel quick enough. Fortunately she isn't on every day or I would never watch this show.

C'Mon Harvey ... time to hire some intelligent African-Americans and get rid of the very uneducated and immature Raquel and Van.

In fact we have several threads here on the black stuff. Whcih you'd quickly find if you'd looked.

Although they're not the only ones who 'disrespect Harvery' (as trashing the boss seems to be part of the show's appeal, and Harvey seems fine with it).

Actually, I don't think Harvey is really all that fine with it. What I do think is that he's afraid to approach, let alone discipline either Raquel or Van, fearing that they'll cry "racism." The way these two talk to him is unbelievably disrespectful; they have no problem talking back (sarcastically) and / or challenging him on everything. Wish Harvey would grow a pair !!!!!!

reply

Although Van and Raquel are bad with their endless race-baiting, the white folks talk back at Harvey just as badly.

Oddly enough, other than Van and Raquel, it seems like the one who tends to get under Harvey's skin the most is Kelly.

reply

Kelly gets under my skin too, so I agree with you on that. However, even Kelly doesn't argue with Harvey (at least on air) the way that Van and Raquel do. Can you imagine any of us treating our bosses that way ... and still having a job the next week ????

reply

There is nothing wrong with Van,he seems cool to me.Now Raquel on the other hand is a *beep* joke.Harvey likes having her around tho cuz she is his entertainment,he's exploiting the *beep* out of her dumb ass.He knows exactly what he's doing.

reply

They're both awful. But Van is bright and funny, which offset the rest of him.

Raquel just needs to go back.

But neither are any worse towards Harvey than the white kids.

Van isn't so "bright and funny" on his twitter account. He clearly has a problem with "race" and a blatant dislike of "white" people. In fact, he doesn't even try to hide this fact .......

reply

Yes he does, but you do, too. Blatantly.

Is that YOU, Van ??? Taking some time from your twitter account to post here ???

reply

It's highly unlikely I'm Van in disguise. I've trashed him here frequently. Including in this thread (which shows how very subjective you really are that you didn't notice).

The problem is that your criticism is off. It seems motivated by race (as is Van's and Raquel's admittedly). But how do you single them out for "disrespecting Harvey" when the virtual premise of the show is everyone disrespecting Harvey??

Everybody does it.

How about Harvey Levin completely disrespecting the women on his staff by never letting them host TMZ or host TMZLIVE? How is it after all these years not a single episode of TMZLIVE has ever been hosted by 2 women?

Well, he's had female guests host on TMZ, if not staff members.

I wonder if the "sexist" criticism about Levin is really true. (It may indeed be).

But everybody is so frikkin' subjective. So it's hard to know what's really going on there.

This week they've been fighting about what happened with Kelly Rippa and Michael Strahan. The white women all align with Rippa (and her attempt to make that situation all about herself) and her fury over not being told in advance everything that was going on with Strahan's leaving their show, while TMZ's black males (well, certainly Van) aligned himself with Strahan's right to leave under whatever hush-hush circumstances his new bosses' required.

So everyone sides with whomever looks like them or whomever is in the same demographic. (If it was Rippa leaving, the white girls would have then defended however she did it, and Van would be supporting Strahan if Strahan were throwing a snit over "not being informed").

So most people are subjective idiots who, sadly, will ultimately burn in hell.

In this particular case, however, I have to side with Van and Strahan -- you have to consider what your new bosses want, and somebody back at the old job is always going to be offended that you didn't handle it to their liking. That's just what happens.

Anyway, we'd all have to actually work at TMZ to determine what the political dynamic is there. And even then most of us would be too crappily subjective to be objective about it even then.

Except for me, of course. Because I'm really lovely.

But a lot of guys left, too.

And given your blatant misogyny on other pages at IMDb, one has to assume you're a silly provocateur with no reason to otherwise exist.

Your posts on other pages are WILDLY misogynistic, and anyone can check that for themselves unless you do some fast mass-deletion.

So it's clear you're in this to rabble rouse anybody who'll take the bait.
