From what I remember myself, I discovered this series on Netflix simply on the fact that I wanted to watch another Canadian show (besides Trailer Park Boys and Corner Gas) then just after trying the pilot episode, oh wow, I fell in love with the show!

Anything that involves rural and the countryside I'm almost always certain I'll enjoy and Heartland nails that just perfectly. Although I don't really fancy the whole deal about the horses but I suppose I've learned some basic steps and that horses are friendly animals too (think it was some odd stuff like being afraid or a horse biting me).

This show has also made me consider about buying a horse in the future if only for hobby purposes. I dunno, it's just a thought so far.

yeah ever since I became hooked on this series I've developed a new-found fondness for horses, in the past I didn't really care about horses really, but now ever since I've fallen for this show I've really grown to like them a lot and would love to ride a horse myself some day...but living in the city, it's quite difficult.

Btw if you're looking for other great Canadian TV series, I highly recommend 'Orphan Black' and 'Lost Girl', if you like Sci-fi or supernatural shows, I think you might enjoy these shows too.

Thanks for suggesting Orphan Black but I'm up to date with that one already (Tatiana is an amazing actress!) although I'll definitely check out Lost Girl. 

Lost Girl is a great series overall...but be warned, it does have some raunchy sex scenes...the censorship on the show is very lax compared to the censorship on most American shows.

I just discovered it and I love it! Really makes me wish I could ride a horse. And also makes me want to visit the area they film in, it's so so beautiful there!

Yup, that's why I think filming on location there has to suck.
