I just started watching the show on Netflix. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. One thing I noticed was no western saddles, and many riders are wearing English style boots and helmets.

I gotta admit that I haven't paid that much attention to the saddles. I do believe that Jack and Tim ride western saddles as well as the rodeo people. But the show also has it's fair share of "proper" young ladies riding english style as it's a more upper class thing to do. IIRC I think that Ashley rode English style.
As the show goes on, you will see all kinds of different horse events, styles and riding. You'll see everything from chuck wagon races to dancing horses to full armor jousting.
Thanks. How many things can you think of to do with a horse? They had to keep it interesting for nine seasons.
