I feel like I missed out on my life

My first full time job was right out of college, just like this movie. I worked at a theme park (Disneyland. Yes, really).
While my coworkers were not as interesting as these cast of characters, there were still the high school like cliques: nerds, hot people, goof offs, etc.
I would have loved to have had the drama and dynamics of these group of people in the movie. The opportunity was there, but no one really took advantage of it. My coworkers were more interested in going home right after work than hanging out. We'd have a few late night trips to Denny's, but that was about it. I feel like I missed out on an opportunity to create some amazing life memories. There was one girl I tried to pursue, but she kept giving me the "come here; go away" split personality, so I gave up. I'm no longer in contact with anyone I used to work with. Looking back, there definitely should have been a more live it up attitude than the we need to work mentality. But, we were all fresh out of college and felt like we needed to take ourselves seriously. Bummer!
I'll have to buy this movie and live vicariously.

Old comment but most people do not create amazing life experiences like you see in tv and movies . I watch 80s and 90s teen movies and feel a sense of loss or sadness as my teenage life was nothing like that and very few teens did. Most of us live pretty laid back rather boring lives

Oh and most people that did lead more adventurous lives in high school still feel the need to embellish

Same. This happens to me as well. I didn’t see the wild American Pie parties or the close-knit group of friends hanging out like in Stand by Me. And the quality of those friendships were way higher.

I think it is one of those things Hollywood glamourises.
