Ben Foster Owned this Movie

That is all. Guy was unbelievable.

You wanna be a farmer? Here's a couple of acres!

reply

agreed!!! he owned it.
he should've been LT, and the one that lived... in real life and in the movie...His character of course...

reply

He owns every movie though.

reply

I totally agree 😊😊😊

reply

Yes...but he also always sort of plays the same guy over and over again. Intense and compassionate, but just about to lose it. I never NOT know that it is Ben Foster. Take away the uniform and he's the same character from Alpha Dog. I need to seem him in a Rom-Com or anything else where he has to play beyond type.

reply

He's extremely unrated! He nails every role. I think he's very diverse. Saw him on broadway last year and at the end of the play people were saying " Who is that guy? He was great!"

reply

*underrated* lol

There you go using that word again...

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

Ditto on Ben Foster.

As for different roles, some good ones are in The Punisher where he's more of a nerd/geek and 30 Days of Night where he's more of a loner/outcast.

As for him doing a rom/com, please no!

reply

He played just about the same character in this movie as how he was in 3:10 to Yuma. Just awesome. Nobody plays a brooding, sadistic, bad ass like Ben Foster. He's about my age and I remember him on the Disney show Flash Forward. He's come a long way since.

reply

really like him in alpha dog and the messengers (another army movie with Woody).

reply

I also enjoyed Ben Foster's character the most though I am never disappointed in his performance. Always good.

As for another role that's different for him, he played an unusual regular on the HBO series Six Feet Under (fantastic show) which he, again, was very good in. He plays an artsy, emo type college aged kid.

reply

He was also very believable as a mentally challenged kid on Freaks and Geeks. And he was pretty harmless as Angel in X-Men.

Sure, he plays a lot of "guys about to snap", but he at least brings a different personalty to each of them.

Yes, hes an incredibly versatile actor. Reminds me of Jeff Bridges who could play Col. Chamberlain in Gettysburg and Harry in Dumb and Dumber back to back.

Unfortunately, Foster was the only one who gave a memorable performance and seemed convincing as a SEAL rather than an actor in costume. The movie loses a couple points for the mediocre acting by Wahlberg, Kitsch, and Hirsch. I'm sorry, not only is Wahlberg obviously too old to play Luttrell, he just seems like his usual self. Think of how much better the acting was in FURY for example.

reply

I fully agree with the OP.

He was excellent in this movie!
VERY believable.

reply

That would be Jeff Daniels, but yes, you're correct. Another versatile actor.

Definite scene stealer.
