The movie is not propaganda, it does not glorify war. It retells acts of true heroism and strong brothership of brave men and women who sacrifice their lives for the freedom of others. Yes it's just about one firefight, but not much more is needed to tell the heartbreaking story of Operation Red Wings. 8/10
Right I was screaming and crying loudly while watching this movie. I have always had massive respect for our military as I grew up on AF bases-and work with US Navy but this movie just killed me. MASSIVE RESPECT (and I always buy a round for them at The Raven when I can) for our military. Right after it was over, I went and read everything I could about about the people/Operation.
Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.
I should have joined the military. I entertained the idea when I was 19 but chickened out because I was afraid to die. Now I'm 26 and afraid to live but the war is pretty much o over. And I would've been something of an anomaly, in that I think I'd still be pretty liberal when I got out.
A compelling movie, a compelling book. brutal and so sad for everyone. Well said in your post, so much better than Sniper which was total propaganda and Eastwood should be ashamed. This movie is so much better.
I knew what was going to happen yet I found myself on Tue edge of my seat thinking it's possible for them to get out of this. I am reading the book now and Marcus is clearly mad at the media and I can't say I blame him.
