It looks like...

... It was filmed in New Mexico, just like the filming locations says it is. That's my main problem with the movie.

But I did enjoy it, and the book is insanely good.

Anyone else have a problem with the scenery?

Not really? What made it stand out to you?

There is, unseen by most, an underworld...a place that is just as real, but not as brightly lit...

As I understand it, New Mexico was chosen as a filming location because it has a lot of similarities to the particular area of Afghanistan where this incident took place. Not all of Afghanistan is dessert. A lot of it is forrested, just like the scenery in the movie :)

Similar to my problem with the Mel Gibson movie "We Were Soldiers". Filmed in arid bushland in Australia and was supposed to be Vietnam jungle. It just lost me right from the start.

Too bad about that; anyway, Fort Hunter-Liggett south of Carmel, California is where it was filmed; and it was made up with bamboo thickets, faux termite mounds & sawgrass to replicate the Central Highlands terrain of South Vietnam. It ain't all 'triple canopy jungle.
