Compared to the book ...

The movies never live quite up to the books, do they? Well, this one certainly doesn´t. Despite the movie being almost two hours long, there are important aspects that are quickly glossed over.
1) The training. It is impossible to underestimate the training that these SEALs went through. It was the single most important reason that they were able to fight for as long as they did and the reason that Marcus Luttrell survived. The training should have made up at least a third of the movie and not just have been a photo montage during the beginning credits.
2) The support for Marcus´ family in Texas.
3) The hospitality of the Pashtun, in the book it´s called lokhay. It´s called something completely different in the movie and not at all explained in the movie.

And don´t get me started on the gunfight between the Pashtun and the Taliban! Where did that idea come from?

So compared to the book, the movie is a fail. Maybe if I hadn´t read the book, I would´ve liked the movie more. Oh well ....
