Didn't find it as bad as most seem to.

Honestly enjoyed alot of the movie. I liked the different approach and some old homage. With that said, i also didn't like some of the approach and old homage. But far more likes than dislikes.

First thing off I try to never get an expectation on sequels. Too many people watch a movie for first time, then start thinking how they'd like the next movie to go if ever a sequel. That's a huge & easy way to set yourself up for disappointment. Then they take that disappointment and turn it into hate.

Back to this 4th installment. Im just gunna note a few dislikes.

1. I didn't like who/what Niobi became. Thought she was very hypocritical when her old self acted like what Neo did to save Zion was a bad choice which wrecked everything. She was dumbfounded and saved by what Neo did to end the war. She praised him for that. She also had a machine on her side. But her security didn't know this. I just thought she was up & down way too much to like her or believe her.

2. I really liked agent Smith in the trilogy. Great actor, great character. But keep him gone. The virus was destroyed, keeping it around is just nostalgia. Im ok if with the architect using a character to be Smith-like to control Neo. But wasn't at all into Smith's character being in sequel.

3. Trinity being half of the One? Or One 2.0? Or whatever people may wanna call it. I don't like it. Leaving her as the Trinity we knew would've been far better.

Feel free to reply to post with thoughts why you disliked or liked movie. Please no hateful attacks on movie or other people. Take care people.

Agree on all of your points.

I was waiting for Niobe to snap out of it at some point in the movie and help the team. I can understand that some things you forget in 60 years but the way she just forgot on what happened in the past with Neo was just out of character.

Also the main thing I didn't like is the absence of danger. In the first tree when they plugged in the Matrix you shat your pants when an agent showed up. They should have killed a few crew members on first fight scene with Smith and on the last chase scene. I mean not a single good guy died in this am I wrong?

I like what they did with Trinity though. She needed an arc as well. This sets up perfect plot for 5th movie where machines tried to keep them close together and now will try to separate them somehow to loose their powers.

Still a very good sequel IMO

Didn't realize i wrote Naomi until i read your post. I edited to fix my typo

A few good guys died, but no one in main or secondary cast. Was just background good guys.
Even in original trilogy as each movie went, they stopped running from agents. First thing we learned in first matrix about agents, was to run. I get why Morpheus in first movie fought agent, but all other times, they stopped to fight instead of run.

I could get onboard Trinity is stronger than before. And Neo is stronger with her around, just not her being fully the same as Neo. Or stronger than him. We really don't know yet if she's as strong or stronger. Kinda looked like stronger by what they showed. But maybe just equal.
