Screenings

Apparently, there will be an invitation-only test screening for this film tomorrow (Sept 9) somewhere in the UK.

Hugh has posted a photo of himself in London, as Bronson Peary. I wonder if this is due to reshoots or pickup shots that came about after the test screening?

And just like that ... Peary makes his return.

That's my assumption as well, particularly after the recent screening.

Confirmation. This was tweeted by a crew member today.

Getting up really early on your day off is worth it if you're hanging with @realhughjackman and @taronegerton #eddietheeagle

Appears there was another screening in London this past weekend (perhaps for cast and crew?), attended by Dexter Fletcher and Taron Egerton, plus Eddie himself.

It looks like EDDIE THE EAGLE was part of a list of films that were shown at a marathon film festival. BNAT, stands for BUTT-NUMB-A-THON, and was organized by Harry Knowles of AICN ( Ain't It Cool News) sometime ago, as this is the 17th edition. Presumably the following comments were from filmsites and other attendees --

EDDIE THE EAGLE - adorable underbird sports movie, a film about tenacity and finding glory when competing trumps victory #BNAT

EDDIE THE EAGLE is a rousing inspirational true story with a great twist: it's about a guy who is not very good at his sport. #bnat17

'Eddie The Eagle' is really fantastic. This generation's Cool Runnings... but with ski jumping. Perfect tone. Fell in love with it. #BNAT17

Jeremy Kirk ‏@jeremykkirk · 26m26 minutes ago
4th film of #BNAT17 was Eddie the Eagle, set for release in April. Funny and heartwarming. Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman are great.

Eddie movie isn’t out for a few months, but it seems to be a finished product. Hugh Jackman was fantastic, too. #BNAT17

EDDIE THE EAGLE is a maaaajor delight. Taron Egerton is peak adorable. Hugh Jackman is peak badass. Christopher Walken is peak Walken. #BNAT

Devin has generally been a Hugh fan, from the days of THE FOUNTAIN and THE PRESTIGE!

He used to run the CHUD film site and his film reviews are well-respected.

He wrote this beautiful review of THE FOUNTAIN --

@nordlingaicn @taronegerton @realhughjackman loved loved loved it. And it was great hearing Taron laughing just as hard as us..

Taron was at the screening and was shown in a photo with AICN headgeek Harry Knowles during a Q&A.

I attended this event. One of the tweets is mine. And yes, Jackman fakes an orgasm again. (See also SWORDFISH. )

This movie got huge cheers from the audience, more than any of the other 10 (mostly genre and vintage) films shown.

I also remember vividly Eddie competing at Calgary. The movie captured what I remember about it, tho the film's backstory is mostly fictional.

Sorry if I'm not being clear. BNAT ran over 24 hours and I haven't had much sleep yet!

Thanks for joining us, Tish 

...and for validating what seems to be the reaction of most of the attendees of the BNAT film screening.

Er... that Swordfish scene again - LOL!
