Based on British Skier but released in the USA first? Why?

Why is this being released in the USA first when it's based on a British skier?

I am also curious about that issue.

But the USA release which is being handled by FOX was initially announced for April 29, moved up to April 1, and then finally settled on February 26.

Couldn't the release in the UK ( handled by Lionsgate) not be synchronized with the USA release? Or are screen commitments already set in place in London and other places in the world where releases seem to be set on or after April 1?

Maybe they might hold a London premiere on or before February 26?

I think I would be happy if it didn't get released here.credit to him but should just stay as a minor celeb in uk, its no cool runnings.

According to Michael Edwards himself ( Eddie the Eagle), the movie itself is based only on about 5% of his own biography. Maybe it is more of a fictional retelling? The coach character portrayed by Hugh Jackman, Bronson Peary, is fictional and it looks like the movie will be largely based on the supposed relationship between the two?

The trailer looks good and has elicited many positive reactions on social media. Those who attended BNAT17, a film festival organized by AICN ( Ain't It Cool News), where the movie itself was shown on its premiere public screening, had high praise for its double themes of humor and warmth!
