the imdb says drama and no comedy, but the trailer looks like it's a comedy...

Yes, I agree with that! Sports has its drama especially when the goal is to reach the heights of sports glory. And it seems the backstories of Eddie and Bronson Peary ( Hugh Jackman) will also show some dramatic highlights. But it is obvious that the movie has its moments of hilarity and heartwarming moments.

It's a dramedy, and it doesn't look half bad

This is the classification i'd give it. It's is foremost a drama about his attempt to get to the Olympics, but it has a lot of comedic moments in it.

I didn't laugh, but it got laughs from quite a few people in the theater. It is campy and doesn't take itself too seriously.
