The lack of fame for ski jumpers

The odd thing about ski jumpers is that no one knows much about the good ones.
Most people couldn't name the gold medalists, but everyone knows the people known
for NOT being great. We have "Eddie the Eagle" who finished dead last at Calgary.

There is also Vinko Bogataj. Who is that, you ask?. Well, only the most seen ski jumper in TV sports. He is, of course, the "agony of defeat" guy.

I think they are famous in their own countries. The U.S. doesn't have a strong ski jumping tradition. If we ever have a ski jumping medalist, no doubt they would achieve instant Rock Star status.
