This film was announced 20 years ago

and it is easy to see why it took so long. Over the years Eddie has spoken about the hardship and difficulties that it took to get to the Olympics and it is obvious why those facts made it a hard film to make and put into cinemas.

If this film was going to go for the realistic docudrama root, it would have needed a director like Michael Winterbottom and I sense it would have barely been seen.

The film does show Eddie had some ability as a skier and he wasn't a complete novice or a buffoon, but it did need a fictional coach and a central location to amalgamate all those people that helped him along and all the places he would have gone to.

The film is enjoyable and I don't think it does Edwards a disservice unlike many biopics out there. If someone actually watched this film and believed it was 100% true I cant say the producers and writers have stitched up the viewer.
