While Taron did a great job in the movie but I do wonder how the film might have differed a little bit if Rupert Grint played the role as originally intended.

The movie would have been panned by critics.
Around half of the positive reviews in RT (and I've read them all) outright say that Egerton's performance is what makes the movie; most of the other half still state that the performance is one of its best assets.
I've only read a few of the negative ones and even some of them say the performance is one of the movie's positives.

Grint, like Radcliffe will forever be remembered for Harry Potter. Best for anyone attempting to make a decent to take a wide berth.
