A compliment and admission of admiration

Whenever Hollywood or the American movie industry as a whole make their version of a foreign film, it's their way of admitting that they were really impressed with it.
It's like they were saying to themselves " Damn! I wish we could have thought of
this one before. "

And yes it does show quite clearly also their lack of originality in copying someone else's work, as opposed to coming up with something more innovative.
In reference to Quarantine it was a copycat version of Rec but still it was a good/entertaining film.
I really can't knock it down too much and I did enjoy watching this a lot.
Also I enjoyed the sequel almost as much.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Answer: To get away from Col.Sanders.

Unoriginal yes, but I think the Americans presented the material slightly better. Regarding Rec2, I remember watching the previews with the police going up the blood-covered stairs and being so excited for it, but it completely jumped genres (well not genres but subgenres anyway) and that made it not as good as the original in my opinion. I will say that it was better than that Quarantine sequel that was straight to DVD.
