Brian is amazing....

I was just telling a co-worker and fellow-father how impressive Patric's character was. I think he has that sensitive, patient ambiance somewhat naturally. But, he also had a screenplay and script to follow, the opportunity to do several takes, etc. that us fathers/husbands wish we had, but don't.

I agree 100%. I liked him when I read the book: he actually makes an effort to understand ALL of his children and is very kind and patient to ALL of them; the mother is different: she refuses to listen to Kate, she treats Anna like a resource for body parts and she completely ignores Jesse. Brian is a great father.

Totally. I think the actors did a terrific job portraying a real family and the complicated but loving relationships involved. I could see my mom, dad, and sisters in these characters, which is why the movie will always have a special place in my heart.
