The book is so much better than the film

Anyone else agree? They missed out/changed so much! Jesse's story is totally different in the book. Brian's story and relationship with Anna is omitted. Much of Campbell's background is missed out which takes away from his developing relationship with Anna and Delia isn't even in film! I think the film focuses too much on Kate, basically ignoring Anna who's the main narrator - the ending change is the worst part. Obviously films can only contain so much but I think this strays too far from the book. Anyone else annoyed by it?

The ending of the book is way too contrived though. It wouldn't work.

I usually don't. But this time I prefer the Hollywood ending. The book ending made me feel like they just got rid of the extra child that they designed

Agreed!

I totally agree..I felt so much more connected with the book than I did the movie. And yes the ending was the worst, I was so disappointed about it. They should definitely have a better remake

I disagree. This is one of the few times where I thought the movie was so much better than the book. The book had such unnecessary plot lines that added nothing. The Julia/Campbell plot was not missed by me. Also, you said that you thought the change to the ending was the worst part, in my opinion that was the best part and the best change. I absolutely hated the book ending. I thought it was the laziest cop out to tie up the loose ends and have it end in a way that left everyone getting what they wanted, except Anna of course, and not only that it basically made the entire plot of the book pointless because in the end the whole ethical debate and Kate and Anna's wishes didn't even matter. So, yeah, I don't often say this or feel this but in this case I actually thought the movie was much better!
