Well, Nancy is a diminutive of Anne, so why not Minnie for Winifred?

Just wanted to say Minnie is one of my favorite characters, and I like the actress a lot. Her voice is so special and lovely. I don't like Laura's character at all, the last straw was when she told Alf he was a good catch for the girls.
