Wikipedia just says the story's set "in the late 19th Century," but does anyone know what year the designers used to create its world?

EDIT: Okay, in S01E09, they show a 1943 newspaper and someone comments, "That was over 40 years ago."

At least that's a starting place. >1985-ish, at least.

Watching it again I notice a time jump. When Quennie finds the tapestry on the grave Laura mentions the newspaper it is wrapped in "is over 40 years old". The date on the paper is 1843 so I figured we were in the mid to late 1880s. However when James has the clock put in Robert carves the year 1895 in it.
