For You, What Was The Moment You Realised This Franchise Was Dead?

For me, it was the end of this film.

I know a lot of people were angry at the time Craig took over and weren't happy with a beefy Sid James type landing the role.

But I gave it a chance and don't recall Casino Royale being outlandishly bad or anything, it just lacked the fun moments which made a Bond film a Bond film.

I guess it got a slight boost by being literally a bit grainier and "realistic" but the magic of Bond was gone, arguably not to be seen again until its spiritual rebirth in Fast Five.

QoS came along and was almost universally panned. Again, lacking in panache, the "realism" angle no longer an original factor, it plodded along until it's incredibly underwhelming water stealing conclusion...

So, Skyfall was last chance saloon really for me. Unfortunately I couldn't believe it as it plodded along with it's outrageously obvious Dark Knight joker RIP off-athon. Just a shambles. But the moment that killed it, the real kick in the teeth, was following the stupid Home Alone nonsense when they tried to set up the new M and showed us "Bond" going into the office. It was so bizarrely like an apology for what they'd been up to - Please come and see the next one, we promise we're going back to making Bond films...

Anyway, I never went back. Enough was enough. I've never seen Spectre, so couldn't tell you if it was any good or not.

If you also despise the Daniel Craig era, what was the specific moment you thought "enough is enough"?

(Note: Please feel free not to comment if you are a fan of Craig's tenure. There are plenty of threads for people who like these films and even consider films like this among the best (!!) if you wish to comment favourably. This is more for people to share their disheartening experience of the direction this franchise went in.)

when it was spoiled that Bond dies in no time to die and got his 00 status taken away. NTTD technically wasnt a 007 movie as Bond was just a civilian trying to take down Spectre.

all the Craig movies are good except the last one.

Skyfall is the perfect Bond movie IMO and is prob the best in the entire franchise.
