At least its a real spoof, right?

When I first saw this film, I thought it was utter trash. Worthless, pathetic, disgraceful, a waste of my time. Well......then I watched Disaster Movie. OMG. Disaster movie is literally the worst film I have ever seen in my life. It failed to even live up to its name! Scary Movie was so successful because it actually stuck pretty close to spoofing the genre it was appropriately titled. Disaster movie, though it does have a "disaster" in the background, failed to even spoof one "disaster movie" properly, or convincingly.

After such a horrid experience, I decided to give Meet the Spartans another chance. I was pleasantly suprised that I really enjoyed it the second time around! It was an ACTUAL SPOOF! It took 300, stuck to the story and added whatever it wanted. Some additions truely didnt need to be in there, but being a true spoof, I appreciated it far more than ever before. Maybe its the fact that disaster movie was so horrendous, but Meet the Spartans might be worth a second viewing to those who hated it the first go around. You might be suprised like I was, and enjoy it.

Personally, I still think its rating would be lower than Scary, Date and Epic. I still crack myself up over those.

I have to agree ... 'Meet the Spartans' isn't a good film, but it's a better spoof than I expected. I felt like the constant pop-culture references were overplayed and slowed everything down. But, as someone who did not enjoy '300' very much, I appreciated how this movie made fun of it.

And Sean Maguire stole the show. His dead-on vocal impression of Gerard Butler and his facial expressions helped to save the whole thing. Kevin Sorbo was a nice touch.

Not great. Not quality. But more entertaining than the upteenth 'Scary Movie.'
