Shia Labeouf should have never been cast in the first place.

That alone speaks volume about what kind of poser Olivia Wilde is - what with her feminism and the 'no assholes on set" rule.

this was coming after Shia's comeback after 2 critical raves after seemingly becoming less toxic

He recently released emails, texts and videos to Variety showing he quit and wasn’t fired and that Wilde didn’t want him to leave. In fact she tried to convince him to return after he left.

At the Venice press conference they blocked any questions!

Labeouf is a sketchy character nowadays, but I'll admit he was smart enough to keep receipts. Imagine being outfoxed by the kid from Even Stevens.

reply

That's the thing, he went through a period where he was getting arrested every week, he needs to be as careful as hell if he wants to come back. He needs to both behave himself at ALL times, and yeah, keep records, because in the case of any conflict he's going to be the first to be thrown to the wolves.

Still, I agree that it was a bad idea to cast him in the first place, if they want to sell the film to women. Unless he was being cast as a villain, and even that's risky.

This whole thing sounds like it was more entertaining than the movie itself.

reply

True! I followed the behind the scenes drama re this film for ages, and have zero interest in seeing it.
