After *beep* sequels, they can be saved.
My plot idea would be like Aliens.
They're geared up to kill em' after years of people going in there never making it out alive.
Yeah, guns when facing the entity that controls silent hill (whatever the darkness is) isn't going to help.
The Descent is a one and done film. The sequel ignored the end of the first film (as did the silent hill sequel). I would like to see a proper follow up to the first Silent Hill film, what we got was less then bad. As for the Descent the only way I could see a sequel being worthwhile is if it dropped any connection to the first film and did its own thing (I don't consider the so called sequel to be anything but bad fan fiction). But at that stage you might as well just drop the connection, it isn't as if the descent has a huge fan base that would make naming a tenuously connected film worthwhile.

shareWell in Silent Hill's case they just grab the next game and edit in a two minute speech retconjugating the first two films.
Or my preference, Heather Mason wakes up in bed and realizes SHR was just a low budget dream.
